Picture an enchanting historic building, brilliant blue cobalt glass, comfy chairs, and shelves of rare and modern books. Add to it a passionate owner, a hot cup of coffee, and a green eyed cat and you have Cobalt Blue Press Bookstore in Knightstown Indiana.
Shannon Dawson, owner of the Cobalt Blue Press, started the bookstore three years ago. She is also an adjunct professor in Media Arts at Butler University as well as a documentary news producer. She has extensive television production experience and her documentary “Lead Paint – Indiana’s Poisoned Children” is currently nominated for an Emmy. She and her husband dreamed of living in a historic house and they found a farmhouse near Knightstown. Every time they would pass by the historic building where the bookstore is today, they kept falling in love with it. Shannon knew she would eventually do something with the space. And this is the fabulous Cobalt Blue Press Bookstore today:
Cobalt Blue Press Bookstore is open from 10 am-5 pm Monday through Saturday and on Sunday’s from 1-5 pm. The address is 102 E Main Street, Knightstown, Indiana 46148. Phone: 317-501-2105.
And if you get hungry after your enjoyable time at the lovely bookstore, a short walk down main street will get you to Thumpers Diner. They have delicious, massively big tenderloin sandwiches. If you need to walk off the food, check out two antique shops across the street from Cobalt Blue Press. A great way to spend a leisurely afternoon!
